John Torode, 53, is an Australian-born celebrity chef, rising to fame on ITV’s This Morning before becoming a household name on BBC One’s MasterChef.

The chef has been presenting MasterChef and its spin-off Celebrity Masterchef since the series was relaunched in 2005, alongside fellow chef and restauranteur, Greg Wallace.

John has been a permanent fixture on the show ever since, starring in MasterChef spin-offs such as Celebrity MasterChef, MasterChef the Professional and Junior MasterChef.

With a career spanning almost 30 years and a successful TV show on his CV, how much does John have in the bank, and how does it compare to his co-host?

John began his culinary career at the age of 16 when he left school to attend catering college.

Wanting to embark his career he moved to the UK when he was 26, working at restaurants such as Le Pont de la Tour and Quaglino’s.

While working at Quaglino’s John met Greg Wallace, who owned the company supplying the restaurant’s vegetables.

Shortly after John began his TV career, cooking on This Morning from 1996 to 2000. He then released a cookbook in 1998 entitled The Mezzo Cookbook.

In the same year, John opened his first restaurant, Smiths of Smithfields, going on to open now-closed Cafeteria.

Almost 20 years later and John has gone from strength-to-strength, building himself a net worth of around £8 million, according to What Net Worth.

His small fortune is no doubt down to his 13-year career hosting the MasterChef franchise.

It is also down to his career as a restauranteur, opening his third restaurant near Spitalfields Market – Luxe – in London in 2009.

Josh eventually sold his share in both Luxe and Smiths of Smithfield, but not before he helped the restaurants reach turnover of £9.2 million.

In 2012 John began dating his current partner, Eastenders star Lisa Faulkner, when after she appeared as a contestant on Celebrity MasterChef in 2010.

The two live in a luxury home in North London with their children from previous relationships.

John’s co-host Gregg Wallace has also made bank, but not as much as his MasterChef co-star.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Gregg has a net worth of around £2 million

His vast fortune is mostly down to his television career, which kicked off when he began presenting and judging the BBC cooking show, MasterChef.

Before that, he also hosted Saturday Kitchen, Veg Out and Follow That Tomato, all food-centric shows for different networks.

For MasterChef, Gregg is currently paid via BBC Worldwide, but his salary remains confidential.
