Melania Trump, a former-model from Slovenia and mother-of-one, tweeted gushing praise for those who rescued 12 boys in Thailand today.
The First Lady, who is a mother to 12-year-old Barron Trump, was quick to send out a message of gratitude after hearing the good news that all those involved had survived.
Twelve boys and their football coach had been trapped in a cave for 18 days.
The boys will have to remain in hospital for at least seven days, it has been reported.
Melania extended her gratitude to those who helped rescue the children.
She said: “Wonderful to hear all 12 boys & their coach are out of the cave in #Thailand.
“What an amazing & heroic global effort!
“Wishing them all a speedy recovery.”
However, some social media users took the tweet as an opportunity to criticise the current situation at the US-Mexico border.
One wrote: “We have lots of kids still waiting for reunification @FLOTUS. #doyoucare”
However, another praised the First Lady and her husband.
They wrote: “God bless you and your family and our great @POTUS.
“We thank you for your sacrifice and service. You are a wonderful #FirstLady. Godspeed.”
Melania and Donald Trump boarded a plant for Europe today.
The couple are on their way to Brussels for the NATO Summit.
From Brussels they will journey to London, the Trump’s first trip to the UK since Donald Trump’s inauguration.
Will Melania Trump meet the Queen on her visit to the UK?
Is it expected the First Lady of the US and Her Majesty will come face to face for the visit, as it customary.
The Trump visit will not be an official state visit, but will rather be what is known as a working visit. This means Melania and Donald will not visit Buckingham Palace, along with a military welcome, as Barack Obama did.
They will, however, meet with Queen Elizabeth at Windsor Castle. It will be the first time the former model from Slovenia has met the British monarch, although she has previously spoken to the Queen’s grandson Prince Harry during a trip to Canada.
