Manchester United may make a move for Wales and Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey in the January transfer window, according to reports.

Ramsey’s current deal at the Emirates will come to an end at the season’s conclusion which means he is free to negotiate with overseas teams from early 2019.

Talks between Arsenal and the 27-year-old broke down last month as the Gunners reportedly withdrew a contract offer which had been on the table for some time report the MEN .

And United are now weighing up a cut price move for the midfielder in January, according to the London Evening Standard . They claim senior Arsenal figures believe there is a strong possibility United will try to take advantage of the current contract impasse.

Liverpool , Inter Milan, AC Milan and Juventus are all said to be monitoring Ramsey’s situation, but the report claims the Welshman would prefer to stay in England as his family are settled in London.

It’s not the first time United have held a reported interest in the midfielder.

Back in 2008 Sir Alex Ferguson tried to sign him when he left Cardiff City and an article ran on the club website claiming United had agreed a fee with the Welsh club to take on the then 17-year-old.

However, he chose to join Arsenal instead after admitting he felt more wanted by Arsene Wenger .

“I went up there (Carrington) to see the facilities and I went to see Arsene Wenger,” Ramsey said.

“He did a lot to try and get me to this club. As a 17-year-old, flying out on a private jet to his hotel (in Switzerland for Euro 2008) was surreal but I think I made the right decision.

“I just felt a bit more wanted by Arsenal and by the boss.”
