Virgil Van Dijk’s move to Liverpool has seen him climb up the charts to become one of the most popular names to have on a football shirt.

Latest figures show that since January 1, a Liverpool shirt with Virgil on the back is the 16th most popular in the Premier League, making him the only defender in the top 20.

He isn’t the most popular name on a Liverpool shirt though.

Mo Salah tops the list for Liverpool and is the fourth most popular name overall according to the data released by SportsDirect.com.

Alexis Sanchez is the number one player following his move to Manchester United in January, while Paul Pogba is the second most popular name and number.

Tottenham shirts with Kane on the back were the third most popular top overall, followed by Mohamed Salah at Liverpool in fourth and Eden Hazard at Chelsea in fifth.
